All dates are 2011, unless stated otherwise, and concern the premiere of the first season. The show is being broadcast in Canada on HBO Canada, same days and times as in the US, starting on April 17. In Quebec the show started airing on Super Écran on August 7. After the original run, Game of Thrones will be shown by Corus Entertainment and Astral.
In the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland Game of Thrones is shown on Sky Atlantic and premiered on April 18.
HBO Central Europe is showing the series in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Moldova, started on April 18.
Orbit Showtime Network, a United Arab Emirates-based satellite programme provider in the Middle East and North Africa (follow link for coverage details), premiered Game of Thrones on April 20.
In Israel, Game of Thrones began airing on April 21 on yes.
The American Forces Network television and radio service for US Armed Forces abroad started airing the series on April 23.
Canal+ Scandinavia (C More Entertainment) acquired the rights for Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. Game of Thrones premiered in these countries on May 4. After the original exclusive run on Canal+, the show will air on the Swedish SVT1 starting on February 22, and in early 2012 (starting January 12) on the Finnish YLE.
HBO Latin America, which covers South and Central America and the Carribean, started showing the series on May 8.
In France, the rights to air Thrones have been acquired by Orange, and it began airing on Orange CineMax on June 5.
Game of Thrones started airing in Australia on the channel Showcase (Showtime Australia), on July 17.
The series premiered in Iceland on Stöð 2 on August 21.
HBO Asia offered the series to the countries in its Asian territories (follow the link for the list) starting on August 28. Four of the countries, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Maldives will get a later air date.
The rights in Belgium have been acquired by Telenet, and the show started airing on Telenet Prime on September 2.
Fox Life has gained the rights to air the series in the Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, as well as Russia, with the covered territory also extending to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova,Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. The show premiered on September 8.
In Turkey, Game of Thrones began airing on CNBC-e on September 18.
In South Africa, Game of Thrones started airing on M-Net and M-net HD on September 26.
In Portugal, the show first aired on SyFy on October 17.
The premiere in New Zealand took place on October 31 on Soho (Sky Network).
In Italy, Game of Thrones started its run on Sky Italia on November 11.
In Greece, the show first aired on the Nova Cinema channel on January 21, 2012.
In The Netherlands, Game of Thrones premiered on the HBO channel offered by the provider Ziggo on February 13, 2012 (with a free preview of the first episode already on February 8).
In Japan, the show finally premiered on Star Channel, on January 21, 2013.
