Yesterday, while we waited anxiously for the new trailer, producer’s assistant Cat Taylor tweeted that filming has officially wrapped on the second season of Game of Thrones.
That’s it! Just wrapped on #GameOfThrones series 2! Can’t wait to see it, and the team next year!
All told, the filming lasted 140 days and spanned three countries and dozens of individual locations. Pretty amazing for a TV show. Now begins the process of taking all that film and editing it down to approximately 10 hours of television. Not to mention adding the sound, music, and, of course, the special effects.
Winter Is Coming: April is getting closer. Only 4 more months of waiting. A big thank you to the cast and crew for all their hard work this year. I can’t wait to see the end result!

Congratulations to the entire cast and crew! I’m happy that they’ve made it through such a gruelling filming schedule and, I am positive that it will all pay off. Now the coundown to next April starts!
Does anybody have any information as to who will work on the soundtrack for Season Two?

Everything has taken pace at such an alarming rate, that it does feel slightly unreal, exciting and I want it now

Wait, next year? I know we all think there’s going to be a season 3… I’m just glad all signs are still pointed to that direction.

So is season three official then? She is an official source!

Wow, it seems like shooting started not that long ago. Let’s hope that the next 4 months go by as quickly (some promo material to keep us occupied would help with that, HBO! ;)).
And it really seems like everyone is sure of a 3rd season, so I guess we can take that as a good sign. :D

IMDB.com, is already listing the Second Season premiere for April 15, 2012…can anyone confirm that?

Congrats indeed to all those that were in any way involved in filming season 2! And good luck to those that get cracking now on making everything look top notch by April…
Oh, and I’ll post this funny news story again since it is more on-topic in this thread. Made me laugh :)

Any info? It’s Ramin Djawadi of course.
Never trust IMDB, very unreliable info.

It’s hard to believe they’ve already filmed the entire second season!
I know people think 10 months between seasons is a LONG wait… but honestly, the years are flying by. I can still clearly remember when they were filming the pilot episode, two years ago, and we were anxiously awaiting the green light! Feels like yesterday.
Looking forward to April. It will be here before we know it!

Really amazing the way you put it:
…all that film and editing it down to approximately 10 hours of television.
How are we gonna survive the wait?

Seems like they kept to schedule this year as well. Congratulations to them!

Congrats!
True, but I’d say the 15th and 22nd are the most likely premiere dates.

4/15 is a perfect premier date—what a way to celebrate the end of tax season :)
I am feeling more and more confident we will get seasons 3 and 4 (if we get season 3 and they are splitting ASOS, we might as well get season 4 as well)

I dont see why anyone would be worried that there won’t be a season 3 or 4. HBO doesn’t canceled anything anymore even shows that should be cancelled that no one watches. Game of Thrones is one of the most buzzed about TV shows in the world with a growing audience, there is no way HBO would even think about canceling Game of Thrones anytime soon.

congratulations!
and for WiC.net too, for allowing us to accompany everything in real time!
I can’t wait for April to come!
Thiago SlashQuote Reply
Because unlike those shows, Game of thrones is really expensive to make. It’s that whole risk vs reward thing. That said – I think we’ll get at least 4 seasons.

Saw a rumor about season 2/season 3, can anyone tell me if they have heard the same?
That they moving up the others from book 3 to book 2 (3 horns) and pushing the sacking of winterfell to season 3 (that is why no Reek/Reeds).
Thoughts?
SuperdeluxeQuote Reply
Superdeluxe, that scenario has been speculated about quite a bit on here, but I don’t think there have been any rumors about it. Where did you see it reported?
Winter Is ComingQuote Reply
Winter Is Coming,
It was just more message board rumors/speculation..not like a actual story, sorry for the confusion.

In my dreams it’s Hans Zimmer.

Squishing 140 days of shooting into 10 hours of episodes means a lot of film will never see the light of day. Is there any reason why they can’t release extended edition DVDs, a la The Lord Of The Rings? I’m sure there are many scenes the producers would have loved to include in each episode, but had to cut from the final versions due to time restraints. I know I’m not alone in wanting to see this!
Pangur BánQuote Reply
Pangur Bán,
Well, the producers have said there are no substantial ‘deleted scenes’.
That said I’m pretty sure that HBO are/should include an extended Dany and Drogo HD honeymoon fantasy rape scene for an extra 4 or 5 seconds in the Bluray.
Also, I am hoping against hope as this was a suggestion I made to HBO several times to their email address help@hbo.com along with my CV and a clip of a movie I made with my friends in college called Star Wars: The New Awesomeness in which I directed, wrote, starred in as young Maximilian Skywalker Illegitimate but Awesome Jedi Child of Luke and Leah, and edited, that they include an abandoned 8 minute deleted “Dany and Ros: What If?” dream sequence feature where Ros decides business is better across the sea; there she meets Dany who liberates Ros from the tyranny of stuff and then they have L wordish expositions while actually J. Mormont reveals all about his tumultuous childhood upbringing that made him quit his love of poetry and join the army. Hopefully they would include this bonus video on a ‘permanent’ piece of plastic and not a video download because I like plastic stuff. In fact I have a lot of it in alphabetical order.
